How To Include A Free Photo With Your Ad
Unlike some other services, USHX.COM doesn't charge you to include a photograph of your home at its web site. If you have access to a digital camera or scanner, you can create a digital image file which can be included as part of your free ad.
Free Link To A Photo At Your Own Web Site
If you have a web site of your own, just upload the digital image file to your web site and include the address for the photo in the "HTTP Photo Address" field on the "Describe Your Home Page" page. The address of the photo image must be a valid web address for a GIF or JPEG file which begins with "http://" and ends with ".jpg" or ".gif". An example of a valid web address for such an image file is: http://www.billwood.com/snaps/crawford.gif. If the address is valid, your picture will be returned if you enter the address in your browser's address or location field.
If you want to find the valid web address for a photo that's already on an existing web page, here's how to do it if you're using a current version of either of the two standard Internet browsers.
FOR NETSCAPE USERS: Go to an image on your web site you want to include in an ad and click the RIGHT mouse button while the cursor is over the image. Select VIEW IMAGE from the drop down menu that opens up. That will open up just the photo. You can then cut and paste the address for the photo (which will be shown at the top of the browser in the location field) to the "HTTP Photo Address" field when you update your USHX ad.
FOR INTERNET EXPLORER USERS: Go to an image on your web site you want to include in an ad and click the RIGHT mouse button while the cursor is over the image. Select PROPERTIES from the drop down menu that opens up. This will display a box showing information about the image file. One of the items displayed is called "Address (URL)". Immediately to the right of this label is the "http://" address for this image. Highlight this address and then click the right mouse button and select COPY. This will put the address in your buffer so you can paste it into the "HTTP Photo Address" field when you update your USHX ad.
(Please note: Some Internet Service Providers, notably XOOM.COM, do not allow links to photos hosted on their servers. If you try to link to a photo on their server, they return an image which is a commercial message for their service. As a result, links to images hosted on their servers are prohibited.)
